Summary
Storm Antoni was named by the Met Office on 4 August 2023 and brought strong winds and heavy rain to parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland on 5 August 2023. An amber wind warning covered parts of south-west England and south-west Wales, and a yellow rain warning covered Northern Ireland. The highest gust was 78mph at Berry Head, Devon, but the Met Office said Antoni was not especially severe for the time of year. Plymouth Pride, Brighton Pride and other events were affected or cancelled, and GWR told passengers not to travel between Exeter and Penzance because of fallen trees. Residents were evacuated from homes in Loftus and Carlin How, North Yorkshire, because of flooding. Sources: Met Office storm report; Met Office.
