Storm Benjamin

Last updated: 23 October 2025 at 13:00

Summary

Storm Benjamin was named by Météo-France on 22 October 2025 because the worst impacts were expected in France and nearby parts of Europe. It moved up the English Channel into the southern North Sea overnight on 22 to 23 October 2025, and its UK impact was limited. The Met Office did not name the storm itself and issued only yellow wind and rain warnings for parts of England and Wales. These were cut back on 23 October as Benjamin moved away. About 2,000 properties in Suffolk lost power, fallen trees blocked rail lines in Essex and near Watford, and Sheppey Leisure Centre closed after a tree hit it. France bore the brunt, with orange warnings along its Atlantic and Channel coasts and gusts of up to about 100mph reported on the northern French coast.
