Summary
The Met Office named Storm Corrie on 29 January 2022, and it arrived about 36 hours after Storm Malik, bringing very strong winds to northern Scotland on 30 to 31 January 2022. An amber wind warning covered the Western Isles, Highlands, Grampian and Tayside, with a yellow warning for the rest of Scotland. The highest gusts were 92mph at Stornoway Airport (Western Isles) and 91mph at Inverbervie, the highest gust on record at Inverbervie. ScotRail stopped all services from 18:00 on 30 January, and Corrie slowed the reconnection of homes that had lost power in Malik. Across the two storms, the Scottish Government said 115,847 households in Scotland lost power. Sources: Met Office storm report; Met Office; Scottish Government.
