Storm Debi was named by Met Éireann and brought strong winds and heavy rain to the UK on 13 November 2023. Northern Ireland, south-west Scotland, north-west England and north Wales were worst affected. Amber wind warnings covered south-east Northern Ireland and parts of north-west England. The highest gusts were 77mph at Aberdaron (Gwynedd) and 74mph at Killowen (County Down), and 209mm of rain fell at Honister Pass in the Lake District over 12 to 14 November. UK impacts included road closures, at least 50 cancelled flights at Heathrow, rail cancellations caused by fallen trees, and further rain in Northern Ireland, which was still recovering from flooding. Debi was much worse in Ireland, where a red warning was issued and 100,000 homes and businesses lost power. Sources: Met Office storm report; Met Office.
