Summary
Storm Dudley was named by the Met Office on 14 February 2022 and brought strong winds to the northern half of the UK on 16 to 17 February 2022. An amber wind warning covered southern and central Scotland, northern Northern Ireland and northern England, inside a wider yellow warning. The strongest gusts were 58 to 69mph on coasts, and the highest figure the Met Office quotes is 81mph at Capel Curig (Conwy). Thousands of homes lost power in Cumbria, Yorkshire, Lancashire and north-east England, and hundreds more in Northern Ireland. Most ScotRail services were cancelled, and rail lines north to Glasgow and Edinburgh were disrupted. Dudley was the first of three named storms to hit the UK in one week.
